The Philadelphia 76ers are setting their sights on Los Angeles Clippers standout Paul George as their primary offseason acquisition, should the star forward opt out of his contract for the 2024-25 season.
George, who currently holds a player option valued at $48.8 million for the next season, has the option to decline it, thereby becoming a free agent. If he chooses this path, the Sixers are reportedly prepared to make a compelling offer to secure his services.

The Clippers, on the other hand, have until June 30th to negotiate an extension with George. Despite successfully locking in his teammate Kawhi Leonard to a lucrative three-year, $149 million extension earlier in the year, the Clippers have yet to finalize a deal with George.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contractual situation, George, 33, has continued to perform at a high level on the court. Throughout the current season, he has averaged 22.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game, showcasing his versatility and scoring prowess.
George has also maintained impressive shooting percentages, with a field goal percentage of 47.0% and a three-point percentage of 41.2%.
Having spent five seasons with the Los Angeles franchise and currently earning $45.6 million, George represents an enticing target for the Philadelphia 76ers as they aim to strengthen their roster and bolster their championship aspirations in the seasons to come.
