Micah Parsons has been key to the Dallas Cowboys success over recent seasons and it seems the versatile player wants to be handed some additional responsibilities. Parsons, a three-time Pro Bowler and the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, has been angling to now take kick returns for the team.
Cowboys special teams coordinator John Fassel recently spoke about Parsons desire to return kicks, and while it seems highly unlikely, it is an exciting proposition.
“You know Micah. He has lobbied me in the past to just be the primary kickoff returner,” said Fassel on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast. “I’m like, ‘Micah, that’s a question you’ve got to go a little further up than me on that one.’ But would I love to see him back there? Absolutely, because he would be fantastic. He would catch it and he’d run wild and he’d probably get incredible yards.”

Fassel did go on to hint that the prospect of the 24-year-old linebackers returning kicks “ain’t going to happen.”
Led by Parsons strong defensive play, the Cowboys have finished 12-5 over three consecutive seasons and have been one of the NFL’s most consistent teams.
Over three seasons in Dallas, Parsons has gone on to record 40.5 sacks, 213 tackles, 89 quarterback hits and 51 tackles for loss.
The former first round pick has evolved into one of the game’s elite defensive players and risking an injury with him playing special teams may not be the smartest move by the organization.
