Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck shocked the football world when he took the sudden decision to retire from the NFL back in 2019. Luck was coming off an impressive season where he had racked up 4593 yards, 39 touchdowns, a 67.3 completion percentage and led his team to the playoffs. It was unfathomable at the time that a player in his prime would all of a sudden walk away from the game.
Five years later, Luck insists he is still content with his decision to retire.
“When I retired, that part of it was put to bed in my mind. There were a lot of complications around it, you know, certainly tormented inside, as you guys saw that night, but I think that part of it has stayed,” said Luck per a recent article from Pro Football Talk.

Luck was a standout player at Stanford University and eventually ended up being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts as the first overall pick in the 2012 draft. He went on to play 86 games with the organization, finishing with 24,671 passing yards and 171 touchdowns before calling it quits.
Luck did go on to say that there are aspect of the games he missing as he looked back on his time in Indiana.
“It gives you purpose, it gives you structure,” added Luck. “There are parts of it you miss. You don’t get to repeat that in life.”
