In a delightful twist during this week’s “Saturday Night Live,” women’s basketball sensation Caitlin Clark made an unexpected appearance on the iconic show’s “Weekend Update” segment.
Clark, widely anticipated to be the top pick in the upcoming WNBA draft, graced Studio 8H and took a seat at the “Weekend Update” desk alongside anchors Michael Che and Colin Jost.

The NCAA’s all-time leading scorer made her entrance after Che humorously remarked about Iowa retiring Clark’s jersey. Che proceeded to read some quips that Clark had supposedly penned.
Amid the laughter, Clark seized the moment to share a heartfelt message about her basketball journey and the impactful figures who paved the way for her success.
“I’m sure it will be a big first step for me, but it’s just one step for the WNBA thanks to all the great players like Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, Cynthia Cooper, the great Dawn Staley, and my basketball hero, Maya Moore.
“These are the women that kicked down the door so I could walk inside. So, I want to thank them tonight for laying the foundation,” Clark expressed.
Following her poignant reflection, Clark returned to the stage for the show’s closing moments, accompanied by her Iowa teammates Jada Gyamfi, Gabbie Marshall, and Kate Martin.
Clark is on the cusp of embarking on her professional career with the WNBA’s Indiana Fever, widely expected to select her as the first overall pick. Her illustrious collegiate journey recently concluded with Iowa’s appearance in the national championship game for the second consecutive season.
