On Sunday, Boban Marjanović sent the 19,370 fans in attendance into a frenzy. That may sound strange considering the the Houston Rockets’ player was playing at the Cyrpto.com Arena in Downton, Los Angeles. No, the 7-4 center did not throw down a monster slam. No, he did not score five or six consecutive three pointers. No, he did not rack up 40 points. Instead, Boban simply missed a free throw.
On the night, Chick-fil-A was offering a promotion where fans would earn a free chicken sandwich if an opposing player were to miss both his attempted free throws. That left Boban in a peculiar position when he lined up for his second after missing the first.
Boban could be seen chatting with the fans and the crowd grew louder as he approached the line for his second shot. Play-by-play announcers Craig Ackerman and Ryan Hollins were starting to get excited at the prospect of a miss. After Boban went wide left on his second shot in what seemed like an intentional miss, Hollins couldn’t hold back his emotions.
“Ahh, he gave them chicken! He’s a man of the people! He’s a man of the people!”

The free throw that Boban missed ensured the fans were going home happy. At the time of the miss, the Rockets were leading by eight points. Luckily for Boban, they went on to 116-105 victory on the night.
