“Everything is fluid and motion is really good” Browns QB Deshaun Watson optimistic with recovery, gives update on training camp

The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, Deshaun Watson will be returning for the 2024 NFL season in full throttle after doing complete rehabilitation from his season-ending surgery.

Watson is returning in his prime form and is back to “throwing full speed”. He also mentioned during the Browns’ offseason program, “Everything is fluid motion, no hinging, and when I say hinging, my release point, when I’m throwing it and things like that, everything is fluid and motion is really good. The velocity and the strength is really good. So it’s been well.”

The progress of Watson has been positive however, there is uncertainty as the quarterback has himself shared regarding his participation in team activities and mandatory minicamp. His medical is pushing for a more conservative approach and the decision for him to not practice until training camp could prevail.

According to Scott Petrak of the Browns Zone, Watson further disclosed during the second day of the offseason program of the Browns, “I think we got to see how these next couple of weeks go. I know for Dr. (Neal) ElAttrache, he wants to be a little bit more conservative just because it was a joint, the glenoid labrum. So he wants to really make sure that we’re not doing too much and other experts that was a part of it said the same thing. This is an injury that for spring, you want to be a little bit more conservative and this summer and get ready for training camp, that’s when there’s going to be a time where we can pick that up. So I think it can go either way for that in the next couple of weeks.”

The NFL passing yards leader of 2020, went for surgery in November in order to repair a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his throwing shoulder. However, Watson shared a productive message and also disclosed that his throwing motion has not undergone any changes.
