NFL Allows Third Helmet Design Option for Teams, Introduces Twelve New Helmet Models

The National Football League and union have reportedly made additional advancements in helmet safety and with this evaluation, the league has also decided to add more design to the helmets.

All the thirty-two teams have been informed by the league that they are extending their uniform rules once again, which would enable them to customize their looks with the addition of a third helmet design, according to Front Office Sports.

The teams that will be able to take in the change much earlier are the New York Jets, the Denver Broncos, the Detroit Lions, and the Houston Texans, as they are already going through changes in their uniforms—a uniform redesign.

The other teams will have to wait until next year; however, they will have to inform the league of their alternate helmet color by May 1st. With the new options available, it is very likely that the NFL and individual clubs will be able to provide the fans with a wider selection of merchandise options as their designs expand.

The new team designs for the 2024 NFL season will be unveiled in the upcoming days. The changes brought in by the league have a number of limitations, including the usage of second and third helmets, which will only be used with optional uniforms.

As per FOS, the NFL and NFL Players Association have also disclosed twelve new helmet models for the next football campaign. The NFL executive vice-president, Jeff Miller, mentions, “We’re proud to see so many new helmets continue the rapid rate of improvement we’ve seen over the past decade”. Some of the helmets are especially designed while keeping in mind the positions of the players.
