Cowboys finally making a signing? Dallas reportedly close to bringing in veteran RB

The Dallas Cowboys have signed veteran running back Royce Freeman to a one-year deal. Freeman, who has previously played for the Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Rams, had 319 yards and 2 touchdowns with the Rams last year.

This move comes after the departure of Tony Pollard. Freeman will join Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn in the Dallas backfield. The Cowboys are still expected to select a running back in the upcoming draft.

Freeman’s addition strengthens the team’s running backs room as their offseason program begins. His career-high of 521 rushing yards came during his rookie year. Freeman is now the most experienced player in the Cowboys’ running backs room, and while he brings valuable experience, he’s not a direct replacement for Pollard.

The team is still expected to draft a running back next week. The Cowboys have several other vacancies to fill and are eyeing extensions for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. Freeman is the second outside free agent the Cowboys have brought in this offseason, alongside linebacker Eric Kendricks.

It remains to be seen what role Freeman will play in Dallas.
