Dolphins plan to keep their 2021 first-round picks, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, through the 2025 season.

Waddle’s contract is worth $15.6 million with 72 catches for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns last season, while Phillips’ is valued at $13.3 million. Despite Phillips’ Achilles injury, he had 6.5 sacks before getting hurt.

The Miami Dolphins are committed to their 2021 first-round picks, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, through at least the 2025 season.

General Manager Chris Grier announced that the team will exercise their fifth-year options on both players’ contracts.

These options come with full guarantees: Waddle will earn $15.6 million, while Phillips’ salary is set at $13.3 million.

Here’s a breakdown of their performances:

Jaylen Waddle:

Last season, Waddle had an impressive 72 catches for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns.

Over his three NFL seasons, he has accumulated 251 catches for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns.

His former Alabama teammate, Devonta Smith, recently secured a lucrative three-year, $75 million extension with the Philadelphia Eagles.

This deal could serve as a benchmark for Waddle’s own long-term contract negotiations.

Jaelan Phillips:

Despite suffering an Achilles injury in Week 12 last season, Phillips has shown promise.

Prior to his injury, he recorded 6.5 sacks in eight games.

The Dolphins are banking on his recovery as he enters his fourth season.

The Dolphins are investing in the future potential of these young talents, aiming to build a strong foundation for their team.

Waddle and Phillips will continue to be key contributors as they progress in their NFL careers.
