You have to credit Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for going the extra mile with the star hiring a specialist QB coach to fine tune his game.
Tagovailoa has already shown immense talent and ability and team GM Chris Grier admits the team is not unhappy he has enlisted the services of a specialized one-on-one coach.
"You’ve got to give him all the credit," Grier said on Tua’s decision to work with a private quarterback coach.
"He is just like last offseason when he attacked to stay healthy and doing the jiujitsu or judo, whichever one, but he’s just — watching him work and how he wants to be great. He took all this stuff on his own and told us what he was going to do, so you’ve got to give him all the credit on that."
The quarterback picked up weight ahead of last season and this season has shed some and Grier is not concerned about his new regime.
"I think this again is to his credit," Grier said. "He’s trying to do everything he can to do what he can to be great. And that’s been from Day One when Mike [McDaniel] and he connected here, working through the first season and then making the changes offseason, working through last year, staying healthy, leading the league in passing and now this is his next evolution. As Mike has told you guys, we feel like there is a whole other step that he can take, so we’re excited about his future."
"I think this again is to his credit," Grier said.
With the star coming to the end of his rookie contract it is unsure if the Dolphins will enter into talks to extend his stay and while the team has the franchise tag at their disposal it will come down to 0"s at the end of the pay slip each year.
