The legendary 1992 USA “Dream Team” that featured stars such as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson has been credited for the growth in the game’s popularity on a global scale. That team went on to win the gold medal in Barcelona, defeating the Croatia in the championship game.
USA will enter the tournament as firm favorites to seal their fifth consecutive gold medal. Serbia and France are also littered with talented stars and could stand in the way of an easy path to the finals.
The Olympics are set to take place from July 26 to August 11.
