A father from Massachusetts, Patrick Clancy, recently completed the Boston Marathon with a heavy heart but a determined spirit. His wife allegedly strangled their three children due to postpartum depression, leaving Clancy to honor their memory as he crossed the finish line.
Despite the heartbreaking loss of his children – Cora, Dawson, and Callan – Clancy ran the marathon in just under four hours, raising over $75,000 for Boston Children’s Hospital in their honor. Wearing a Miles for Miracles jersey dedicated to his late kids, Clancy found solace and purpose in training for his first marathon after the tragedy.

Throughout the race, Clancy carried mementos of his children, including a tiny blue bow from Cora, bracelets representing Callan’s happiness, and one for Dawson. He also had a resin with their handprints, a poignant reminder of their presence.
The support from the crowd and the memories of his children kept Clancy going, motivating him to exceed his fundraising goal and raise $77,062 for the hospital. Despite the devastating circumstances, Clancy has forgiven his wife, Lindsay Clancy, recognizing her struggles with mental health.
Before the tragedy, Clancy had expressed concerns about his wife’s mental well-being to friends, indicating she may have been overmedicated. Despite the pain and loss, Clancy’s determination to honor his children’s memory shines through in his remarkable achievement at the Boston Marathon.
