In a surprising revelation, Dolphins’ star terron, Terron Armstead, has stated his consideration towards retiring after the 2023 campaign.
With two more years to go on his current deal with the team, Armstead has dropped strong hints about his uncertain future.
While his current deal with the team extends for another two years, discussions about a reworked deal indicates his potential early retirement after the end of the 2023 campaign.
The reworked deal emerged amid thoughtful deliberations about retirement. Despite having an ongoing, two-year contract with the team, Armstead seems to be weighing this considerable decision.
Offering an insight into the Dolphins’ strategy, General Manager, Chris Grier, indicated that the team adopts a forward-thinking approach, with a two-year gaze into the future for roster planning.
“the team takes a two-year look into the future when it comes to thinking about the future of the roster and acknowledged the possibility that Armstead won’t be part of the picture much longer,” said Grier.
Grier particularly highlighted Armstead’s impact on the team. “We’re very respectful of his time and, to his credit, he is an incredible communicator,” said Grier. “I’ve gotten to know him over the last couple years — he is a fantastic person. So I’m very glad he is coming back, because he has impacted that room so much with those young guys . . . so having him back is important. But you always look at every position when you kind of go through it and try and look and try and anticipate what some of the issues could be in the future.”
Despite early speculations, Grier confirmed that the Dolphins would not be considering a quarterback with their 21st pick in the draft.
However, his comments about Armstead suggest the likely focus on replacement tackle picks during the draft.
