Five NFL players who faced suspensions in 2023 for breaking the league’s gambling policy have been allowed to return, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

Wide receiver Quintez Cephus, safety C.J. Moore, and defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor of the Detroit Lions, linebacker Rashod Berry of the Indianapolis Colts, and defensive end Shaka Toney of the Washington Commanders have been reinstated by the league.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, “The NFL is reinstating five players who were suspended indefinitely last year for violating the gambling policy: former #Lions WR Quintez Cephus, S C.J. Moore and DL Demetrius Taylor, #Commanders WR Shaka Toney and former #Colts LB Rashod Berry.”

Of the group, only Shaka Toney wasn’t released and is now eligible to participate in offseason activities with Washington. Cephus, Moore, Taylor and Berry also can sign with clubs.”

Shaka Toney is under the contract of the Commanders and will be joining the squad. The other players are free agents; after the wagering incident, all of them were cut from the organizations. Other Lions players, such as Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill, had received suspensions consisting of six-games.

The individuals associated with the league are not allowed to gamble in any way at any club or facility of the league, which also includes the practice facility, according to the league’s gambling policy as per the NFL Network.
