The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit this season and the Detroit Lions have the 29th overall selection. The Lions supporters might have to wait longer to see who their 2024 pick will be and there is potential that they could make a second-round selection, as per SI.
This was noted by the general manager of the Lions, Brad Holmes, who expressed that the happiness of the fans is cardinal; however, he will have to choose what is best for the organization moving forward.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Christian Booher, the general manager shared, “That’s something that, we have to do the right thing for the organization. If it makes sense and it lines up and it’s the right thing to do, then we have to do the right thing and so, say that happens, where the fans have been waiting there all night for this pick and we get an offer that we really can’t turn down, we’ve got to do the right thing. And hopefully our fans will forgive us. We won’t expect immediate forgiveness right then and there, but hopefully when the season starts and that player selected is out there, we can get past that. I totally understand that.”+
The fact that Detroit is hosting this year’s draft provides Holmes with an ideal chance to complete the space in the lineup. Detroit is anticipated to benefit economically as well due to the program taking place and Holmes has shared that he and the fans are “so excited”.
