Country music icon Tim McGraw, 56, took to the stage at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis wearing the new No. 22 jersey of Indiana Fever’s rising star Caitlin Clark. This gesture was a nod to Clark’s recent achievement and didn’t go unnoticed by the WNBA team.

The Fever’s official Twitter account expressed their appreciation with a clever play on McGraw’s hit song, “I Like It, I Love It,” stating, “We like it, we love it.” McGraw had previously sported Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes jersey at another concert and had congratulated the 6-foot guard after she was chosen as the first overall pick by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Clark, 22, recently had a whirlwind experience, including a cameo on “Saturday Night Live” and various media appearances in New York, before heading to Indianapolis for her introductory press conference with the Fever. Expressing her excitement, Clark thanked the Fever and Pacers, emphasizing that joining the team was a dream come true.

Clark’s star continues to rise nationally with a contract worth $338,056 over the next four seasons and an anticipated lucrative endorsement deal with Nike. Demand for her apparel is soaring, with Fanatics reporting delays in shipping Nike jerseys until August.

The Indiana Fever will kick off the 2024 WNBA season on May 14 with an away game against the Connecticut Sun. Their home opener is scheduled for May 16 against the New York Liberty.
