On Thursday, a league source revealed the NFL has reinstated five of its players who were suspended indefinitely in the 2023 season for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero also reported that five NFL players who were suspended indefinitely for violating the league’s gambling policy in 2023 have been reinstated.

The list includes three ex-Lions players, wide receiver Quintez Cephus, safety C.J. Moore, and defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor. Furthermore, ex-Colts linebacker Rashod Berry and current Commander’s Edge Shaka Toney, all five now have their active statuses restored.

In more updates on the news, out of the five reinstated players, Toney is currently on a team’s 90-man roster and now is eligible to participate fully with Washington.

Safety Moore was also suspended for the 2023-24 NFL season and is now free to sign with a team. He had signed a two-year, $4.5 million deal with Detroit shortly before the suspension was issued.

Per the league gambling policy, it prohibits any player in the NFL from engaging in any form of gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the practice facility.

In April last year, Toney and four other Lions players, including Cephus and Moore were issued suspensions. Toney, Cephus, and Moore received indefinite penalties, while two other Lions players, Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill, received six-game suspensions at the time.

In July, the Colts’ Berry and Isaiah Rodgers and Taylor, who were free agents, were suspended indefinitely through at least the conclusion of the 2023 season for betting on NFL games in the 2022 season.
