The NFL punt return yards leader of 2022, New England Patriots cornerback/return specialist Marcus Jones has become one of the fundamental players of the Patriots squad. He had an incredible rookie season and will be spearheading the upcoming season with the same ferocity.

In an exclusive interview with Overtime Heroics senior editor, Reggie Roberts, Jones had shed light on various topics including his admiration for the music department and the success he has found with his off-field passions.

Jones was picked up in the 2022 NFL Draft in the third round as the 85th pick and was selected by the New England Patriots. Jones had a highly impressive rookie season. In the Week 11 game against the New York Jets, Jones returned a game-winning punt return 84 yards for a touchdown.

During the complete 2022 season, Jones punt return was the first for a score. However, another feat came for the Jet Award recipient when in Week 13 against the Buffalo Bills he scored his first career offensive touchdown on a 48 yard reception.

Jones also became the first NFL player to score a touchdown, on offense, special teams, and defense during the same campaign. His feat was achieved against the Cincinnati Bengals during the Christmas Eve game. He scored on a 69-yard pick subsequently becoming the first NFL player to do so in more than four decades.

Jones ended his sensational campaign with registering 39 tackles, two interceptions, 7 pass defensed, 4 catches for 78 yards and one touchdown. He also led the league with 362 punt return yards and occupied the fifth position in kick return yards category.

In 2022, he was named to First-team All-Pro and he also occupies a place in Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. Patriots prominent cornerback, is also making his name with his passion in music as well.

Overtime Heroics senior editor Reggie Roberts asked him: “If you were not playing in the NFL, what would you be doing?

To which Marcus Jones replied: “If I wasn’t playing in the NFL, I actually think that I end up being in the music realm recording, song writing and being able to make songs from start to finish.”

His pass to international music stardom started with his single, “Make It Right” which gained a spot among top ten on Music Week’s Commercial Pop Chart in the United Kingdom. The song made its breakthrough under Elliot J.’s name and the player also offered the squad behind the scenes as well.
