The Atlanta Falcons have been charged with tampering with their involvement in signing of veteran quarterback, Kirk Cousins, who earlier was a free agent coming from the Minnesota Vikings squad.
The Falcons immediately refuted any misconduct that had occurred regarding the charges, which were made known by the league authorities. The newly appointed head coach, Raheem Morris, and owner, Arthur Blank, have shared their opinions on the matter as well.
The league is also finding out if the Philadelphia Eagles violated the rules by having a direct conversation with former running back of the New York Giants, Saquon Barkley. However, as per Adam Schefter, the disciplinary action “is expected to be more severe for the Falcons”.
Blank had mentioned via ESPN’s Michael Rothstein, “The tampering deal, we obviously don’t believe we tampered, and we shared all the information with the league. And they’ll review the process and the facts and they are in the middle of doing that, and whatever the result is, we’ll deal with it.”
#Falcons coach Raheem Morris on the league's tampering investigation regarding Atlanta and Kirk Cousins: "I'm not allowed to really discuss it right now while it's under review, but I got a lot of confidence in our people that we did the right thing."

Morris also shared during the NFL’s annual meeting, “I’m not allowed to really discuss it right now while it’s under review, but I got a lot of confidence in our people that we did the right thing.”
NFL insider Adam Schefter has also revealed that the disciplinary action against the Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles considering running back Saquon Barkley could be given this week.
He also mentioned via ESPN, “The NFL’s investigation into alleged tampering charges against the Falcons for their involvement with then-free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins and the Eagles for their involvement with then-free agent running back Saquon Barkley is ongoing and could reach a conclusion as early as this week, per sources.”
Schefter had also highlighted two instances, one in which the Miami Dolphins “forfeited their 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 third-round selection for tampering with Tom Brady and Sean Payton” three times from 2019 to 2020. As a result of the tampering, vice chairman/limited partner Bruce Beal and owner Stephen Ross faced fines.
Another instance involved the Kansas City Chiefs when they “forfeited their 2016 third-round pick and a 2017 sixth-round selection for tampering with Jeremy Maclin” which happened in 2015. The Chiefs organization faced a fine along with head coach, Andy Reid, and John Dorsey, the general manager.
