The Chiefs made significant announcements on Monday night, extending the contracts of their president, Mark Donovan, general manager Brett Veach, and head coach Andy Reid. However, they didn’t reveal how long the extensions are for.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Veach and Reid are set until 2029. Reid, 66 now, won’t face retirement questions anytime soon.
Reid has been a subject of retirement talks in recent years, but with this extension, it seems those questions can be put to rest. By the time his contract ends, he’ll be 71.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt expressed his desire to make Reid the highest-paid coach in the league after last season, and now, with this extension, Reid holds that title.
Reid’s coaching legacy speaks for itself. He’s ranked fourth all-time in regular-season wins and has 26 postseason wins. This puts him in an elite category, trailing only legends like Don Shula, George Halas, and Bill Belichick.
With this contract extension, Reid can further solidify his legacy. The Chiefs are in a position to achieve something unprecedented this season—a Super Bowl three-peat. They’ve won two titles in the past two years and could make history with a third consecutive win.
