Indianapolis Colts running back Evan Hull reveals in an exclusive interview that he recently concluded “The Rise: Kobe Bryant and the Pursuit of Immortality.”

The book chronicles the life of the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant from his high school years through his ascent to NBA stardom.

The book’s study of Bryant’s grit and unparalleled work ethic profoundly inspired Hull’s own journey.

“The last book I read and actually finished was calledThe Rise: Kobe Bryant and the Pursuit of Immortality. It’s a biography of Kobe, growing up through high school, what life was like for him, and eventually getting to the NBA. Kobe was a guy l admired because of his mindset and work ethic. You see in the book that not everything came completely naturally for him. There was a lot of work that had to be put in for him to achieve what he wanted to achieve. Ultimately, that came from his mind more so than his talent. Even though he was extremely talented, it was his mind that pushed him over the edge of great to one of the best, ever.”

Hull’s first season with the Indianapolis Colts was cut abruptly short. Regrettably, Hull suffered a meniscus tear during his first game in the NFL.

Just after eight snaps, his dream run came to a grinding halt, forcing him out for the rest of the 2023 season.

Hailing from Maple Grove, Minnesota, Hull’s journey to the NFL has been nothing short of inspiring.

Drafted as the 176th overall pick in the 5th round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Colts, Hull showed immense potential during the 2023 preseason.

The Northwestern University alumni had managed to impress with 53-yard rushes, three catches, and an impressive touchdown.

His rehabilitation process post-injury has been filled with perseverance and resilient grit, reminiscent of his enduring admiration for his idol, Kobe Bryant.

His focus during the initial weeks of the Colts’ offseason workouts has been intense, solely aimed towards making a hefty impact in the upcoming 2024 season.

Despite the setback, Hull remains unfazed and determined to make a significant impact in the upcoming 2024 NFL season.

His preparation speaks volumes about his passion for the game, as he is eagerly awaiting his return to the field.

If he remains healthy, Hull could potentially become a stellar addition to the Colts’ running backs rotation alongside notable players like Jonathan Taylor, Quenton Nelson, and Michael Pittman, Jr.
