“I believe in bloodlines” George Lynch Praises New Generation With Sons of Four Former 49ers Players in the 2024 Draft

The San Francisco 49ers have a rich history of developing talented stars. It appears that those talented stars have now passed on their knowledge to the next generation.

The 2024 Draft is set to take place this week and it looks like the sons of four former 49ers players could be in line to be picked up by NFL teams.

Frank Gore Jr. is the son of former NFL running back Frank Gore Sr. who spent 10 seasons with San Francisco and was a five-time Pro Bowl selection over a 16-year NFL career. Brendan Rice is the son of legendary three-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Jerry Rice. Luke McCaffrey, son of Ed McCaffrey and Terique Owens, son of Terrell Owens, round out the list.

Niners GM John Lynch recently spoke about the next generation of players to emerge from his historic franchise.

“Well, I believe in bloodlines,” said Lynch per a recent Pro Football Talk article. “I think there’s evidence that you should. But, these guys, there’s some inherent pressure on who their dad is, but there’s also some good genes and I think that matters. And so, it’s exciting that you have all these great, I mean, we’re talking Hall of Fame players and great players and brothers of players and it’s really fun.”

Lynch’s comments will offer encouragement to the four players who are looking to follow in their father’s footsteps. The 49ers hold 10 total draft picks and seven of those are in the final four rounds. Don’t be surprise if we see a familar name being drafted by the organization.
