“I still believe in Dak,” Troy Aikman Comes Out In Defense Of Dak Prescott After Playoff Struggles

Dak Prescott remains one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league but after eight seasons without a NFC championship appearance, patience is wearing thin. The Cowboys have finished 12-5 over the last three years and won two division titles, but can’t seem to get over the final hurdle.

On the surface, Prescott’s numbers have been impressive and the Louisiana native has produced under pressure. Unfortunately, when you are missing a Super Bowl ring, fans in Texas tend to get restless.

One Cowboy player that has come out in defense of Prescott is three-time Super Bowl champion and six-time Pro Bowler Troy Aikman. The former Dallas quarterback seems to think Prescott is still the right man for the job.

“I still believe in Dak,” said Aikman per Pro Football Talk. “I think that until you do it, there’s always those criticisms. I know Peyton Manning went through that. His first three years, he didn’t win a playoff game, and then you look back on it now and you can’t imagine that anyone would question whether or not he could win a playoff game.”

Aikman knows what he is talking about when it comes to quarterback pressure. The former UCLA star went 0-11 in his 1989 rookie season before finally finding a winning formula to win his first championship in 1992.

Prescott continues to put up big numbers during the regular season. In 2022, he finished with 23 touchdowns and threw for 2860 yards. In 2023, he was phenomenal with 35 touchdowns and over 4500 throwing yards to lead the Cowboys to the division title.
