Legendary broadcaster Mike Francesca is well known for his non-interest in the NHL but did give some minutes of his Mike and Mad Dog Show to highlight some preview action.
A listener called in the following conversation took place on air.
Listener: “Can I get your take on the Rangers-Ducks game tonight?”
Francesa: “No. No, you can’t. Because no one cares.”
But while he rebuffed the listener, he did share some tips by hockey pundit friends of his, who said the Rangers should have no problem with the Capitals in their series.
“Now, it’s funny, I didn’t do anything on hockey because I hadn’t really watched any hockey yet,” Francesa said. “I did play golf last week with a couple of my hockey guys that I rely on, and I’ll just give you a couple of things they gave me before Game 1.”
He even took the time to put out an X post defending his golf friends who gave him some tips.
“For those of you dumb enough to think I gave you some businessman’s hockey views. Those words of wisdom came from about 30-plus years of NHL experience,” he wrote.
Will we see more NHL on the Mike and Mad Dog Show, probably not.
