Orioles trounce Angels 4-2 in 15 inning marathon as Trout strikes out looking

Craig Kimbrel struck out Mike Trout with the bases loaded to secure a 4-2 victory for the Baltimore Orioles over the Los Angeles Angels. The win marked the Orioles’ seventh in eight games and propelled them to first place in the AL East. James McCann and Colton Cowser each hit a home run, while Adley Rutschman contributed two RBIs for Baltimore.

The game also marked the Angels’ 10,000th regular-season game in their history.

Starter Albert Suárez pitched a solid game, allowing only four hits and earning his first major league victory since 2016. However, it was Kimbrel who stole the show in the final inning, narrowly escaping a bases-loaded situation to secure his sixth save.

Despite Trout’s homer in the seventh inning, the Angels suffered their fifth consecutive loss and their eighth loss in ten games.

Reid Detmers, the Angels’ starting pitcher, struggled, giving up four runs on six hits and three walks.

Despite pitching seven innings, Detmers made some costly mistakes.
