Renowned NFL running back, Dalvin Cook recently settled a heated legal battle with his former girlfriend, Gracelyn Trimble, who accused the footballer of battery and false imprisonment in his Minnesota home back in November 2020.

The case, which unfolded in Dakota County District Court, was widely publicized due to its seriousness.

Notably, the case has since been closed and settled with a hearing, originally scheduled for the following Tuesday, canceled.

The specifics of the settlement between Cook and Trimble remain undisclosed, maintaining an element of privacy around this high-profile lawsuit.

Trimble was seeking damages in excess of $50,000, with Black’s Law Dictionary defining “damages” as the monetary compensation or indemnity, which may be recovered by a person who has sustained an injury; either in his person, property, or relative rights, through the act of another.

Court filings obtained by Star Tribune reporter Rochelle Olson contended that Cook’s lawyers initially proposed an $800,000 settlement, later raising it to $1 million.

Adding another layer of complexity to the saga, Cook countered Trimble’s lawsuit with one of his own.

In December 2021, Cook lodged a defamation and fraud claim against both Trimble and her representatives.

As it stands, this lawsuit is still pending, with motions expected by October. A trial date has not yet been specified.

Dalvin Cook has had a rollercoaster ride throughout his football career. The 28-year-old spent six seasons playing for the Minnesota Vikings before being released last summer.

Despite the controversy surrounding him, Cook continued his career, joining forces with the New York Jets and subsequently, the Baltimore Ravens, albeit with limited playtime.
