The Heisman Trophy winning former quarterback of the LSU Tigers, Jayden Daniels is highly-anticipated that he would go as the second pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft as he has shown the skills to become a top-notch talent in the future.
The Sun Bowl MVP of 2019, Daniels registered 3,307 rushing yards, including 34 touchdowns during his collegiate career and he has chosen Lamar Jackson and Michael Vick as the greatest running quarterbacks but believes he can excel them.
He shared as per CBS Sports, "[Vick] was the first, but I think Lamar"s got him now. I"m in the league now, so I"m trying to go past them."
Daniels ability to bolt during the plays is what makes him particularly impressive when it comes to the running feat considering the quarterback position. Daniels had gained a lot of yards when the defense was not able to stop him or was preoccupied.
He further mentioned, "I would say my football IQ. I pride myself on being a smart football player. Being able to eliminate what the defense isn"t doing. I kind of have two or three things in my head pre-snap…. Being able to check into runs and check protections based on leverage and stuff like that. I take pride in learning about football and knowing football at a high level."
The multiple award winning quarterback, responded when he was questioned regarding his quick decisions on the gridiron. He expressed, "Being decisive. That"s a big part. Knowing when to run and when not to run, it"s kind of just a feel thing throughout the game. You kind of feel how deep the defense is, where the rush lanes are, stuff that like. That just comes with playing football."
Last year, he received the AP College Football Player of the Year award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award, SN Player of the Year, and Manning award as well.
