Sewell signed a 4-year extension worth a whopping $112 million with the Detroit Lions. A significant portion, $85 million, is guaranteed, meaning he’ll receive that amount regardless of injuries or performance. This translates to an average annual salary of $28 million, a top figure for offensive linemen.
Despite being a relatively young player in the league (drafted in 2021), his performance has impressed. He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2022.

According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Sewell was the highest-graded offensive tackle in the NFL for the 2023 season, earning a stellar 92.1 overall grade. Sewell’s elite performance translated to minimal pressure on the quarterback. He allowed only one sack throughout the entire season, including playoffs, and just 25 total pressure. His efforts were rewarded with both Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors
