Albert Breer Releases First Mock Draft And Projects 3 QBs Will Be Selected With First 3 Picks For Only Fourth Time in History

NFL analyst, reporters and experts have been firing out NFL mock drafts over the last few months in the attempts of getting it just right. Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer took just one crack at it.

In his latest piece, the well-known NFL reporter released his predicted 32 first round picks early on the morning of the draft. Breer did go on to say that while he expects there will be trades and teams moving up and down, he has refrained from including trades in his only mock draft.

The 2024 NFL Draft is expected to be quarterback heavy with at least 5, 6, or seven 7, signal-callers going in the first round. This is an exceptional group and Breer has projected three quarterbacks going in the first three picks and five being drafted in the first round. If it were to happen, this would only be the fourth time in the history of the draft that three quarterbacks have been selected 1-2-3 (1971, 1999, 2021).

It comes as no surprise that Breer has Caleb Williams going no.1 to the Chicago Bears. The decision to move on from Justin Fields made it almost certain that the organization was going to select the University of South California gunslinger. Williams has visited Chicago and met the players and this seems to be a perfect fit for a franchise that has historically struggled with the quarterback position.

Following Williams, Breer has LSU’s Jayden Williams going to the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots selecting UNC’s Drake Maye. Both teams are looking for a long-term solution at the position so this makes sense. J.J. McCarthy (Minnesota Vikings) and Michael Penix Jr. (Vegas Raiders) are the final two quarterback to get picked up in the first round.

Wide receiver Marvin Harrion Jr. is projected to be the first non-QB to be selected with the Arizona Cardinals adding a weapon for Kyler Murray. Tackle JC Latham (San Diego Chargers) is expected to round out the top five picks.
