With their top pick locked in on Williams, the Bears can use their number nine pick to build a strong team around their new franchise quarterback. This could mean selecting an offensive lineman to protect him, a running back to take pressure off his shoulders, or another weapon at wide receiver to complement existing options like Keenan Allen.
Also, there’s always a chance the Bears will trade their number nine pick. This could depend on the draft. If a highly-rated player the Bears covet falls to them at nine, they might take him. Caleb Williams is projected to be the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played for both the Oklahoma Sooners and the USC Trojans. Williams won the Heisman Trophy in 2022. He has recorded 4,500 yards and a record-setting 52 total touchdowns (passing and rushing) during his Heisman-winning season at USC. Caleb’s playing style includes throwing and running the ball.
