Naz Reid from the Minnesota Timberwolves has snagged the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2023-2024 season! Despite stiff competition from Malik Monk of the Sacramento Kings and Bobby Portis Jr. from the Milwaukee Bucks, Reid clinched the title. The big announcement came during the NBA on TNT pregame show, where Reid couldn’t hide his excitement and gave props to the Timberwolves fans.

When asked about his relationship with the Minneapolis fan base, Reid couldn’t help but gush. He called it “special” and “one of a kind.” Reid acknowledged the fans for witnessing his growth since day one, both physically and mentally. He felt they deserved the recognition for sticking by him through thick and thin.

“It’s special. It’s one of a kind. It’s something that you, obviously, dream of growing up, especially at the highest level in the NBA. I mean, they’ve seen me work from day one. Since the moment I’ve gotten here, I’ve changed my body, my mentality, and the direction I wanted to go in life. I think they kind of deserve that. Being with me, that’s super special.” : Reid replied

Reid’s performance on the court this season was outstanding. Averaging 13.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 81 games, he proved to be a valuable asset, especially when Karl-Anthony Towns was sidelined due to injury. During Towns’s absence, Reid stepped up, averaging 17.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists as a starter.

His standout moments include scoring a career-high 34 points against the Cavaliers and 25 points against the Lakers. Despite the pressure, Reid remained focused on playing his game, showing resilience from his journey from the bottom to the top.

Now, with the Timberwolves eyeing a shot at the NBA Championship, Reid’s contributions are crucial. Alongside rising star Anthony Edwards and the rest of the team, Reid’s impact is undeniable. His recent contract extension worth $42 million over three years reflects the team’s faith in his abilities.

As the Timberwolves gear up for their playoff matchup against the Phoenix Suns, Reid continues to shine off the bench, averaging 8.5 points in 18 minutes. With the team currently leading 2-0 in the series, all eyes are on Reid and the Timberwolves as they aim for victory in Arizona on Friday night.
