University of Washington’s star quarterback, Michael Penix Jr., isn’t shying away from the spotlight. With the NFL Draft kicking off on Thursday night, Penix Jr. has expressed his confidence in being selected within the coveted top 10 picks.
“I do feel like I should be,” Michael said in an interview with TMZ Sports. “I have the potential to be. But like I said, it’s out of my control. Wherever I go, I’m going to take advantage of the opportunity.”
This isn’t just wishful thinking. Penix Jr. had a stellar year leading the University of Washington Huskies to the College Football Playoff National Championship game. He finished the season with impressive stats, including most passing yards in FBS (College Football) and top marks in completions and passing touchdowns for deep throws (over 25 yards) in the past two seasons. His strengths include accuracy, particularly on deep throws, making good choices under pressure and avoiding turnovers.
Notably, Penix Jr. has a history of ACL injuries. However, he’s actively addressed these concerns by performing well at the NFL Combine and Pro Day. Plus, Penix Jr. also penned a well-received open letter to NFL general managers via The Players’ Tribune. In it, he spoke about his leadership qualities and ability to elevate his teammates.
