In a recent media interaction, Caleb Williams, the star quarterback, made it perfectly clear who his number one draft pick would be for the Bears’ upcoming season – Penn State offensive tackle, Olu Fashanu.
Olu Fashanu isn’t just another football player for Williams. They share a rich history dating back to their high school football days.
Known for selflessness on the field, Fashanu’s inclusion in the team is seen by Williams as an immediate asset.
“I’d probably go Olu Fashanu because I know he’d put his life on the line for me,” remarked Williams.

Although Williams’ top pick remains Fashanu, he expressed interest in other prospects. If one among the promising trio of big receivers — Washington’s Rome Odunze, LSU’s Malik Nabers, and another yet-to-be-identified player — falls to the Bears at No. 9, Williams would entertain second thoughts.
The Bears’ draft plans, however, might take a different direction. The team is rumoured to be considering some of the top defenders in the draft.
While they respect Williams’ perspective, the final decision will depend on the outcomes as the draft progresses.
