Earlier in the day, reports emerged suggesting the Pittsburgh Steelers had expressed interest in acquiring Samuel, albeit unwilling to meet the 49ers" asking price, as disclosed by Mike Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle. Pittsburgh had also shown previous interest in Aiyuk.
The 49ers fortified their receiving corps by selecting Ricky Pearsall with the No. 31 overall pick on Thursday night. Pearsall, a standout receiver from Arizona State and Florida, brings an impressive collegiate resume, boasting 159 receptions for 2,420 yards over his career.
