Speedster John Ross to Participate In Philadelphia Eagles Rookie Camp on Tryout Basis As He Looks To Make NFL Comeback

One takeaway from the NFL draft was that teams are prioritizing the wide receiver position for next season. This year, there were a record-tying seven receiver drafted in the first round and one asset teams looked out for was speed.

Former University of Washington standout John Ross is looking to make a stunning one-eighty after announcing his retirement from the league in 2023. The 28-year-old is known for his speed, a quality that many NFL teams are in the market for. During the 2017 NFL combine, the California-native finished with an record breaking 4.22 second 40-yard dash time. He held that record until Texas prospect Xavier Worthy broke it this year with an incredible 4.21 second time.

Per a recent report from NFL.com, insider Mike Garafolo reported that Ross would be a participant in the Philadelphia Eagles rookie camp as he targets a return to the league.

The Eagles already have a handful of talented receivers on the depth chart with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith leading the way. Ross, however, would offer something unique that quarterback Jalen Hurts would welcome.

The Eagles finished 11-6 last season but failed to win a playoff game.

Over five seasons in the league with the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants, Ross finished with 957 receiving yards on 62 receptions and recorded 11 touchdowns over 37 games.
