Considered one of the promising quarterbacks in college football, Rattler’s journey has been anything but smooth. Rattler, during his tenure at Oklahoma, faced setbacks that would have crushed most.

His tenure at the varsity was marked by a challenge like no other – being benched in favor of another quarterback, Caleb Williams.

Many emphasized Williams’ lack of adversity as a key factor in his success. However, Rattler’s experience of facing a solid career setback at Oklahoma paints an entirely different picture.

Taking adversity in his stride, Rattler transferred to South Carolina. It was here, rather than Oklahoma, where he regained his much-deserved spotlight and refined his skills beyond expectation. This eventually led to his selection in the NFL Draft.

Rattler’s wait for selection was lengthy. He was the 150th selection, after six quarterbacks, all drafted in the first 12 picks.

Far from being deterred, Rattler looked at his late selection as another opportunity to showcase his adversity-handling prowess. He is now set to carry this spirit into the NFL, a test that he is undoubtedly ready for.

Speaking about his challenging journey, Rattler expressed that the early adversities he experienced in his college career had readied him for this next big challenge.

“I think it helps me coming into this level, being able to experience a little adversity early on in my college career, I think that helps,” Rattler said. “As a quarterback at this level, you’re going to experience adversity if you want it or not. So I think having success, having adversity, that helps shape you as a player and person. I wouldn’t change a thing about college. I’m ready for the next step. I know I’m prepared.”
