“That will never happen” Patriots Quarterback Joe Milton Promptly Shuts Down Talk of Switching Position to Tight End

The departure of Mac Jones left a void at quarterback for a New England Patriots franchise that has struggled with the position since the departure of Tom Brady. With Bill Belichick no longer calling the shots, the Pats could be looking for something different from their signal-caller next season.

The Patriots added two quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft. New England used the no. 3 overall pick to select highly-rated former North Carolina star Drake Maye and the no. 193 pick to add versatile dual threat quarterback Joe Milton. Both players are unique in their own way and have a lot to offer the franchise.

The Patriots quarterback room is starting to get a little crowded with Maye and Milton joining Jacoby Brissett, Bailey Zappe and Nathan Rourke. There will be plenty of competition for playing time and Milton is up for the challenge.

Milton, 24, was recently asked whether a move to the tight end position was in the cards and promptly shut down any talk of a shift in position.

“You are the first person I have actually heard that from, to be real with you. But, that will never happen,” said Milton per a recent piece from Pro Football Talk.

At 6-5, 235 pounds, Milton offers a larger frame than most quarterbacks in the league. He also offers a potent arm that opposing team will have to deal with. Last season, the gunslinger threw for 2813 yards and 20 touchdowns for the Tennessee Vols.

It will be interesting to see how newly-appointed head coach Jerod Mayo will manage the numerous quarterbacks on his roster. He certainly has plenty of options to start the season.
