“We wanted to bring in people here who had a chip on their shoulder” Philadelphia Eagles GM Opens Up On Organization’s Unique Offseason Philosophy

After a heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, 2023 was supposed to be the year the Eagles put it all together. Instead, a 11-6 season ended in disappointment after a crushing 32-9 Wild Card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is safe to assume Nick Sirianni and his team have something to prove in 2024.

It has been an active offseason for the Eagles and the goal has been to find players with the right “mentality.”

“We had kind of a philosophy. We wanted to have a ‘mentality’ offseason. We wanted to bring in people here who had a chip on their shoulder because we felt like we had a little bit of a chip on our shoulder,” said general manager Howie Roseman to reporters per Pro Football Talk.

Roseman stated that after a bitter finish to last season, the team is looking to recruit hungry and gritty players that want to prove themselves in this league.

“Not in a bad way. Just in a way like we felt like we wanted to do whatever we could to put ourselves in the best possible situation for this year because we had a bad taste in our mouth the last year.”

The Eagles were active in the free agency market and brought in star running Saquon Barkley, C.J. Gardner-Johnson and DeVante Parker to fortify their roster. Add to that the nine picks they picked up in the 2024 NFL Draft, and Sirianni has plenty of options to work with next year.
