Bashaud Breeland, cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs during their Super Bowl LIV win in 2020, has been arrested again on charges related to drugs and assault.
On April 27 (note: reported on April 29), he was arrested in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on charges that include felony drug possession, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and damaging property. Police responded to a drug-related call and allegedly found Breeland with various substances, including marijuana and promethazine hydrochloride (a sedative). The situation reportedly escalated, with Breeland accused of assaulting officers during the arrest.
This is not Breeland’s first brush with the law. In August 2020, just months before winning the Super Bowl with the Chiefs, he was arrested for similar charges – possession of marijuana, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest. He pleaded guilty in October 2020 and served 30 days in jail.
Currently, Breeland has been booked into Mecklenburg County jail. Details about the bond, legal representation, and next court appearances are likely forthcoming but may not be immediately available.
