The Phoenix Suns, led by two-time NBA champion and fourteen time All-Star Kevin Durant, lost the Playoffs Round 1 Series to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Game 4 matchup was lost with a concluding score of 116-122.
However, with the loss, Kevin Durant’s future with the Suns could come into question. According to Heavy.com, Erik Spoelstra guided Miami Heat could become his next spot. An executive of Western Conference mentioned, “There are a few teams that should come up. The Heat would be a favorite.”
The Miami Heat had been touted as a possible landing destination for the two-time NBA Finals MVP earlier as well. When Durant asked for a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, Heat was one of the spots that piqued interest.
The Suns traded for Bradley Beal to make their lineup stronger so that they could compete further in the season. The trio of Durant, Devin Booker, and Beal were impressive but could not get past the Timberwolves, who were shining with Anthony Edwards, Karl Anthony-Towns, and Rudy Gobert.
They concluded their regular season with a 49-33 record and did not appear to be a significant threat in the Western Conference. The Heat’s history has been imposing and under Spoelstra, the squad has achieved major feats as well.
In the first game, the Suns lost with a final score of 95-120; the second game saw the Timberwolves end the game with 105-93. The third game ended with a concluding score of 126-109.
