Beekeeper Rewarded With Honor Of Throwing Out First Pitch After Preventing Further Delay At Diamondbacks Game

The Arizona Diamondbacks welcomed the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night for a division rivalry matchup between two of the best team in the National League. The Shohei Ohtani led Dodgers tend to attract massive crowds and 28,667 fans were in attendance at Chase Field for this highly anticipated matchup. Unfortunately, fans were forced to wait patiently for this encounter to get going.

The start of Tuesday’s game was delayed by nearly two hours due to a beehive in the netting directly behind home plate. A professional beekeeper named Matt Hilton was tasked with removing the beehive, and what seemed like a routine gig turned into a memorable experience for Hilton.

As a reward for his hard work, Hilton was granted the honor of throwing out the first pitch at the game. The crowd was thrilled to see the beekeeper take the mound and provided him with a special welcome. Hilton did not disappoint, slinging his protective mask over his head in style and throwing a right-handed rocket over home plate.

Hilton later disclosed that he was actually at his son’s tee ball game when he suddenly got the call to head to the stadium.

The video of Hilton getting a standing ovation has gone viral online with fans loving the feel-good story.

The Arizona Diamondbacks went on the win the game 4-3, giving the home fans another reason to go home happy.
