In a candid interview with Overtime Heroics Senior Editor Reggie Roberts, New York Jets linebacker Quincy Williams took a break from the gridiron to share insights into his life outside the NFL during the second week of the league’s 2024 offseason conditioning program.
Quincy Williams, known for his hard-hitting style on the field, revealed a softer side as he discussed his recent literary choice.
Reggie Roberts: “What’s the last book you read?”
Williams: “‘Monster’ by Walter Dean Myers.”
Williams also shared his motto which reflects the grit and determination required not only in football but also in life.
Reggie Roberts: “What’s your life motto or what piece of advice do you live by?”
Williams: “Only the strong survive… the weak crumble like cookies… that’s mentally strong and physically strong.”
Quincy Williams’ NFL Career
Quincy Williams was drafted in the 3rd round (98th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Quincy played in 11 games with 8 starts as a rookie before going on injured reserve. Later, he played a limited role due to injury in 2020.
In 2021, he was waived by the Jaguars and picked up by the Jets. After stepping into a starting role for the Jets, he has been a key contributor ever since.
In 2023, Quincy Williams had a breakout season. He earned a First-Team All-Pro selection with a career-high 139 tackles, 10 passes defensed, and 2 sacks. He recently signed a three-year contract extension with the Jets.
