The five-time SEC Coach of the Year, and seven National Titles winner, former head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team, Nick Saban, who has joined media since leaving his profoundly successful career behind, was lauded by College GameDay host Rece Davis for his incredible analysis during the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to Awful Announcing, Davis shared positive remarks considering Saban’s analysis during the 2024 NFL Draft day, he mentioned this during one of the episodes of “The Pat McAfee Show” stating, “I thought he was sensational. He was so prepared, which comes as no surprise to you guys or to anyone else. He had studied tape. He had read stuff on guys. He had talked to general managers, he had talked to coaches. He knew this stuff inside out.”
“There was a point a few days before, because of the ABC broadcast where it sort of focuses on the personalities and the paths that the players have taken to get to that point, he said ‘I wish someone had really let me in on this so I could have found out more about these stories.’ And I said, ‘No, no, we want you to be Nick Saban. You have plenty of these stories from playing against them, recruiting them, and running across them in camps. Just share them.’”
Saban, who served as the head coach of Louisiana State University, Michigan State University, and the University of Toledo, also coached NFL’s Miami Dolphins and became one of the most successful coaches in collegiate football.
His prowess in assessing and analyzing individual talents is one of the factors that made him a true legend among the coaches of college football. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 and throughout his successful career, he coached four Heisman Trophy winning players.
He further continued, “I don’t know why this moment has stuck out to me, but one little example of how quickly you can tell a story and personalize somebody and personalize yourself, when Drake Maye gets drafted and we showed the party at his high school, it was in the basketball gym, and when it popped up on the screen, Nick just sort of interjected, ‘Hey I’ve been in that gym. I was in there watching him play basketball.’ It took eight seconds for him to say that and, boom, it gave you another personal angle to the story.”
Davis also shared a story in which Saban added some personal background, which occurred to him naturally, prompting Davis to notice how in tune the former iconic head coach is with his study both on and off field.
