The New York Giants fans are still dwelling on their memories from last football season, but the spotlight is firmly on Quarterback Daniel Jones.
At an event on Wednesday, Jones spoke with reporters, shedding light on his ongoing recovery and his mindset amidst rumors of the club’s scouting for quarterbacks in the pre-draft phase.

“I’m focused on what I can control and that is preparing to play good football,” said Jones with a steely determination when asked about the club’s reported interest in Drake Maye, the coveted quarterback from North Carolina.
According to Dan Duggan from The Athletic, Jones’ resolve is clear; he’s concentrating on his rehab and being “ready to go.”
In the recent draft, the Giants bet on Malik Nabers as their first pick. As a wide receiver, Nabers is expected to augment the team’s offensive capability and give a significant boost to Jones once he’s fit to take on the field.
It’s widely known that Jones’ career in the last two years has been marred by injuries. Two neck issues in fall 2021 and a season-ending torn ACL on November 5 could be stumbling blocks in his journey to full recovery.
However, Jones remains positive and reports suggest that he’s “in a good spot” with his rehab progress. Despite speculations, Mike Garafolo from NFL Network insists that Jones will be the Giants’ lead quarterback in Week 1.
“If Daniel Jones is healthy, he is going to be the quarterback for the team,” Garafolo reported.
Doubts about Jones continue as his injury-riddled career makes club owners apprehensive. Possibilities of an early shutdown in the next Fall are looming, paving the way for parting ways with Jones by March of the upcoming year.
The Giants’ approach and decisions in the coming draft could change Jones’ future significantly. Still, for now, Jones remains focused on his recovery, and the Giants are hopeful about his return.
