Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia to hold crucial talks with players and coaching staff amidst speculation

Phoenix Suns’ owner Mat Ishbia is set to engage in discussions with players, head coach Frank Vogel, and General Manager James Jones over the next three days to address recent speculation and media reports, according to a statement made by Ishbia.

In response to swirling rumors about potential player trades and coaching staff changes, Ishbia emphasized that no decisions have been made and that discussions have yet to take place regarding the team’s management or roster.

“Not one discussion about my GM, my coach — we’re trading players now, supposedly, in the media. Not one discussion’s even been had, let alone a decision being made,” Ishbia stated.

Ishbia clarified that his trip to Michigan was unrelated to team matters and that he had returned to address the ongoing speculation surrounding the Suns’ future.

He outlined his intention to meet with players, coaches, and team executives throughout the week to address any concerns and evaluate the team’s performance.

While Ishbia declined to comment on specific personnel decisions, he reiterated his support for Vogel and Jones, highlighting their contributions to the team’s success.

“Honestly, not even a discussion. And that’s what I’m here for. I’m here Wednesday, Thursday, Friday to have those conversations. I’m meeting with players. I’m meeting with the coach. I’m meeting with the GM,” Ishbia affirmed.

When pressed about Vogel’s future with the team, Ishbia echoed his previous statements, emphasizing that no decisions have been made and that evaluations will be conducted across all levels of the organization.

“I think Frank Bolt did a lot of great things. I think James Jones does a lot of great things. I think Josh Bartlestein does. I think our players do. I think I’ve done some great things. But we’re going to evaluate everything because here’s what I think about from a coach perspective. Assistant coaches. I know we lost our assistant coach who’s going to get a job at BYU and do great things there. Like, the way I look at it is everyone is accountable. I’m accountable,” Ishbia stated.

As Ishbia prepares to engage in crucial discussions with key stakeholders, the Phoenix Suns organization remains focused on addressing internal matters and maintaining its commitment to excellence on and off the court.
