On Thursday night, The New York Knicks, sealed their first round series four games to two after beating the Philadelphia 76ers 118-115.

In what was a tense Game 6, the Knicks prevailed in the clutch to eliminate the much maligned Sixers from the playoffs. The Knicks are now into the second round in consecutive years for the first time since the postseasons from 1999-2000.

In the NBA Eastern Conference heavyweights Philadelphia and Milwaukee have both been eliminated out of the playoffs in the first round.

On Thursday game, the Knicks downed the 76ers behind 41 points and 12 assists from Jalen Brunson to win the series 4-2 and advance to the second round. Brunson’s jumper added the Knicks’ lead to 107-99 with 3:27 left in the fourth quarter. In Philadelphia, the visiting fans Knicks took over Wells Fargo Centre.

This marks the first time since the 2020/21 season, that the Sixers haven’t past beyond the first round, while they’ve never made it to the conference finals in the Embiid era. After their worst regular-season winning percentage in seven seasons, fans belief that the Sixers could make a deep postseason run was quite flimsy to start with, and Embiid battling through knee surgery and a mild case of Bell"s Palsy could not drag the series to Game 7 despite gutsy performances from him and sidekick Tyrese Maxey.

Joel Embiid scored 39 points, his second-highest total in the series, while Buddy Hield scored 20 points, leading the Sixers" 42-point bench contribution in a Game 6 loss to the Knicks.

Meanwhile, the Knicks, scheduled to an Eastern Conference semi-finals date with Indiana, who thrashed the Milwaukee Bucks 120-98 to win their Eastern Conference series 4-2.
