The Tri-City Chili Peppers are set to glow as UV-reactive uniforms, bats, and baseballs that will glow in the dark underneath custom blacklights installed in their stadium.
As announced on Thursday, Chili Peppers, a summer league team in the Coastal Plain League based in Colonial Heights, will play a “cosmic baseball game” on June 1.

The minor league baseball team is set to become the first team to ever play a “cosmic baseball” game, under a special artificial lighting system for both the Chili Peppers and their opponent. In their cool promotion, the team confirmed the game will be streamed online with both teams outfitted in special uniforms, the teams will also practice under the blacklights.
The “cosmic baseball” game will bring a completely new change to playing games at night, and also help map a new baseball team. The Tri-City Chili Peppers is a collegiate summer baseball team that first entered the Coastal Plain League in 2021 and plays its home games at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights.
The team paid attention to the uniforms, working with vendor 3n2 to design jerseys that would react under the blacklights but also work for wearing in normal light. The idea came out of a previous “80s neon and glow” themed game.
The concept is thanks to the team’s uniform vendor 3n2, hat producer Bretmor Headwear and equipment manufacturers Tucci and Wilson Sports Goods.
Along with the game on June 1, the team also planned to hold cosmic baseball games on June 15, 28, and July 20.
