Deja Kelly Transfers to Oregon, Bolsters Ducks’ Basketball Lineup

Deja Kelly, the three-time all-ACC guard, announced her decision to transfer to Oregon from North Carolina. She shared her decision with fans across the globe via social media on a recent Monday.

Texas senior originally debuted as a freshman on the basketball court with an impressive average of 15.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3. assists per game throughout her career at Chapel Hill. 

Remarkably, Kelly utilized the opportunity presented by the NCAA during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NCAA granted all student-athletes a bonus year of eligibility, which surprisingly gifted Kelly an unexpected fifth and final year.

Consequently, this development posed her eligible to leave for the 2024 WNBA draft. 

Not long after entering the portal in early April, Kelly completed her four-year UNC career ranking eighth on the scoring list. Deja Kelly’s arrival makes her the seventh newcomer that coach Kelly Graves has welcomed this offseason.

The new lineup of the team is set to level up with notable entries like Texas’ Amina Muhammad, Arizona’s Salimatou Kourouma, Washington’s Ari Long, BYU’s Nani Falatea, UC Santa Barbara’s Alexis Whitfield, and Siena’s Elisa Mevius.
