Since making his NFL debut in 2017, Patrick Mahomes has developed into the league’s top quarterback. Mahomes is a two-time MVP and a three-time Super Bowl champion and his numbers speak for themselves. He has a knack for getting his teammates involved and seems to make everyone around him better. Off the field, it is hard to find a teammate that has anything negative to say about the superstar.
The Chiefs new wide receiver Xavier Worthy was the latest to praise Mahomes for his talent and leadership qualities. The Texas Longhorn star was the Chiefs first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft they will be hoping he can promptly develop a relationship with his new quarterback. Speaking with Arrowheadpride.com, Worthy discussed his first communication with Mahomes and what stood out to him.
“I talked to him — connected with him a little bit. He was excited about me coming into the camp. It’s amazing just to be able to have that quarterback that wants you,” said Worthy. “I feel like everybody would want to play for Pat, just how amazing a quarterback he is and how personal he is.”
Worthy is an exceptional prospect with good route running ability, great hands and exceptional speed. The 21-year-old stood out at the NFL combine after breaking the 40-yard dash record with a remarkable 4.21 second time.
The idea of Mahomes and Worthy playing together is exciting for Chiefs fans. Kansas City is on the verge of a historic three-peat and with the bulk of last year’s championship team returning, they have a realistic great shot of adding another title.
