The New York Knicks benefited from a controversial call in the fourth quarter of Game 1 against the Indiana Pacers.
Officials deemed Myles Turner’s screen on Donte DiVincenzo illegal, despite DiVincenzo’s exaggerated flop.
Joel Embiid responded with a one-word comment on the situation. Although the Knicks advanced, Embiid found humor in the sequence, highlighting the pivotal ruling and DiVincenzo’s acting.
The Philadelphia 76ers, led by Embiid, were eliminated in the playoffs by the Knicks. Nonetheless, Embiid couldn’t help but express disbelief at the game-changing call.
Bill Simmons also raised the issue of Charge Call on Myles Turner.
The charge call on Turner was reprehensible. Come on.

Fans reacted as follows:
I didn't care who won, was just enjoying a great game.
The refs completely ruined the game. Any ending besides the refs deciding it would have been awesome, but the refs had to make sure the players didn't get the chance to determine a winner

Refs and replay ruin NBA playoff games on a nightly basis at this point

Brunson is definitely not a come and see him score 38 kind of guy! He's just not!

That and the kicked ball to happen in the last minute of a playoff game is just utterly inexcusable.

Refs suck but Tyrese Haliburton cost the Pacers the game, and Rick Carslile is just as responsible for playing him in the fourth and taking out TJ McConnell when he was absolutely BALLING out there. Glad the Knicks won.
